Recent tragedies show the horrifying reality we face under Texas’ extreme abortion bans. Stories like those of Nevaeh Crain, Josseli Barnica, and Avery Davis Bell are heartbreaking reminders of the dangers these laws pose to women.
Nevaeh Crain, an 18-year-old, visited three emergency rooms in Texas over 20 hours before finally
being admitted, only to pass away from pregnancy complications after being forced to wait for multiple ultrasounds to confirm “fetal demise.” Her tragic death is one of at least two under Texas' restrictive abortion ban.
Josseli Barnica was another young woman in Texas whose life was cut short. As she suffered through a miscarriage, she was told that doctors couldn’t help until her fetus no longer had a heartbeat—by then, it was too late.
In Georgia, Avery Davis Bell was hemorrhaging from a miscarriage but was forced to wait due to a 24-hour waiting period. She feared for her life, wanting nothing more than to survive for her child at home, but unnecessary delays nearly cost her everything.
No woman should suffer like this, nor should doctors be paralyzed by fear of prosecution when a patient’s life is at risk. Texas’ current laws are cruel and inhumane, and we need leaders who will advocate for common-sense healthcare policies that protect women’s lives.
As your representative, I will fight tirelessly to ensure that women in Texas have access to life-saving reproductive healthcare. I believe in a Texas where healthcare is about saving lives—not creating fear and suffering.
That’s why I’m asking for your vote for the special AND general elections on your November 5th ballot.
Send me to Austin and I will fight for compassionate and rational reproductive healthcare policies that respect and protect all Texans.
